"The Grafting
Tour - India" |
May 24 - JOHN AND STONEJAVA TO RETURN
The group has departed Delhi and is on their way back
home, flying 15 hours direct to New York, then on to
Nashville and Seattle, respectively.
Due to the different time zones around the world, John
will leave at 1 a.m. Saturday, fly all night and day,
and when he arrives in the U.S. - it will be Saturday
morning once again. He can re-live the day all over,
just like Bill Murray in the movie
"Groundhog Day!"
We'll be sending out a newsletter from John within the
week, hearing first-hand about the trip, the concerts
and the experience of performing live with a brand-new
band.
Thank you for all your interest over the past two
weeks... and remember - you don't have to wait for
concert reports from thousands of miles away - YOU can
be the "eye-witness reporter" by hosting a concert of
your own with John Schlitt and StoneJava. The band is
smokin' and READY to roll into YOUR city! For more
information, just send an
email for all
the details.

May 20-21 - AIZAWL CONCERT REPORT
Here's a first-hand report
from Chicco Renthlei, the event manager of the Aizawl
concerts. Make sure to note that in spite of the enemy's
attempts to thwart the Gospel message from going out,
GOD has the last word.

May 18 - BANGALORE CONCERT REPORT
We haven't received any information on this concert as
of yet, but in the meantime we'd like to share an
article titled
"Music Gets Spiritual" by Mid-Day.com. Pay special
attention to the unfamiliarity of Christian music in a
land such as India. With their six-city tour, John and
StoneJava are working hard to change that!
Just in - an article
written exclusively for JohnWSchlitt.com by Prem
Paul Ninan, a professional journalist for AOL India.
Take a front row seat and experience the Bangalore
concert firsthand, up close and personal!

May 15 - DIMAPUR CONCERT REPORT
Thursday evening's concert was full of excitement as
the people of Dimapur were treated to a rockin' great
time of praising the Lord, led by John Schlitt and
StoneJava.
In the words of Roger Wood, "Dimapur was awesome... huge
enthusiasm! We broke the band down on "God Is Too Big"
and let the crowd sing the words alone... it was
incredible! They all knew the words to almost every
song! The sound was awesome!"
After the concert, the crowds pressed all around the
stage to show their appreciation and gratitude to John
and the band. As in Kohima, there was a paramilitary
unit, armed with rifles to quell any possible
disturbance, since there has been some civil unrest in
the state of Nagaland.
Roger continues: "These people are so gracious and yet
so poor! I firmly believe it is these kinds of people
who will get the mansions and penthouses in heaven!!!"
The following link is from the
Nagaland Post. You will notice that the writer is a
bit confused between the music of Petra and that of John
Schlitt! But we'll forgive him....
If anyone is familiar with the Petra or Schlitt song
"Unfaithful," please let us know! :-)
Nagaland Post's sister publication,
Kuknalim.com is a bit more accurate in it's
reporting.

15 - RECAP OF KOHIMA - AND OFF TO DIMAPUR
John and StoneJava are playing in Dimpapur this evening,
Thursday, May 15 to an expected crowd of 5-10,000 people!
According to Roger Wood, John's music director "the
equipment is awesome!
These guy are trucking the gear all over the northeast
part of India in five big trucks on narrow dirt roads,
and running everything from huge generators!"
A bit more on the Kohima concert:
On the first concert in Kohima the generator broke down
and delayed the concert by 1.5 hours. The crowd was
screaming in anticipation, but they were very gracious
and patient. The concert ended with the II Guys song
"Lord Reign in Me." According to Roger, "we ended the
concert with the last song being "Lord Reign in Me."
Because of all the rain, we changed the words to 'Lord
Rain On Me!' ha ha!"
Below are a few news articles about the Kohima date:
The Morung Press
Nagaland Post
John and Roger are flying out from Dimapur to Colcutta
Friday morning, with George, JaKael, Pete and Rusty
taking a six hour train ride through Bangladesh to
Chennai.

May 13 - KOHIMA CONCERT REPORT
After a three-hour ride on serpentine dirt roads to a
village called Kohima, high in the mountains near China
and Myanmar, John and the band performed to a crowd of
4000 screaming fans.
"Wow... wow wow... incredible... It was awesome for our
first show (of the tour)! I played my first ever KEYTAR!
Ya baby!" says Roger Wood, Music Director of StoneJava,
John's solo band.
There was a big stage, high tech gear - and armed guards
with machine guns and berets! The generator went out and
tropical rains hit 3/4 of the way thru the show, but all
is well.
Now on to Dimapur for the next concert on May 15. Stay
tuned!
